QS-9000

An international quality standard, based upon ISO 9001: 1994, which defines the fundamental quality system expectations of Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Truck Manufacturers and other companies for internal and external suppliers of production and service parts and materials.

ISO/TS 16949

Now at 2nd edition 2002, ISO/TS 16949 is an ISO Technical Specification which aligns existing US, French, Italian and German automotive quality system standards (such as QS9000, VDA-6.1, EAQF and AVSQ) within the global automotive industry. It is highly likely that the Japanese will follow suit. Together with ISO9001:2008 it specifies the quality system requirements for the design/development, production, installation and servicing of automotive related products.

Ideally used as a key practical tool during business and process improvement and/or QMS implementation. It creates ownership of areas and involves personnel at all levels.
